Expence stores the receipts and income you record and the account that keeps them in sync across your iPhone and the web. Reading a receipt photo happens on your device. We don't sell your data or show ads. On the web app, with your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the app is used — you can decline and everything still works. You can delete your account and all its data at any time.
Expence ("Expence", "we", "us", or "the app") is an iOS app and a companion web app that let you photograph or upload receipts, automatically read their details, record income, attach documents, and organize your expenses. Both share one account and one secure backend, so your data stays in sync across your devices. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. For anything in this policy, contact us at privacy@expence.app.
We only collect what the app needs to work:
We do not ask for or store your payment card numbers, bank account numbers, or government identifiers.
Your data is used only to provide the app: to authenticate you, read and store your receipts and income, sync them across your iPhone and the web, attach and display your documents, and keep the service secure. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or sale to anyone.
On iOS, reading the text of a receipt photo (merchant, date, amounts) happens on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition. The photo is not sent anywhere to be scanned. Only the details you keep, and the photo you choose to attach, are saved to your account so they sync to your other devices.
On the web app only, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the app is used — for example which pages are visited — so we can improve it. This is loaded only after you accept the cookie banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set and the app works exactly the same. We enable IP anonymization and do not use analytics data for advertising. You can change your choice anytime by clearing the site's cookies/data in your browser. The iOS app does not use third-party analytics trackers.
Your data is stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) under access rules that limit every record and file to your own account. Documents and photos live in a private store and are served only through short-lived, signed links tied to your session. We don't share your personal data with third parties except the service providers strictly needed to run the app (such as our hosting provider, Google for web analytics, and Apple for subscriptions), and only to that end.
Expence Pro is purchased through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and manages your subscription — we never see or store your card details. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID settings.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual receipts, income entries and documents at any time from either the app or the web. Deleting your account (from the Account screen) permanently removes your data and uploaded files from our systems.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Most of this is available directly in the app; for anything else, email us and we'll help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Passwords are stored hashed, connections are encrypted in transit, and files live in a private store reachable only through signed links tied to your session. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.
Expence isn't directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Your data may be processed on servers located in other countries. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect it in line with applicable law.
If we update this policy we'll revise the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or web app.
